To celebrate National Orienteering week, and a new orienteering map, New Mexico Orienteers are putting up a navigation challenge downtown Los Alamos Thursday Sept 15th, 2016.
Come and learn navigation skills, or have a fun run/walk checking out places downtown.
The format is sprint rogaine, which means that you'll pick your choice of checkpoints to visit within a 1 hour time frame.
Short course 12/26 check points
Medium course 18/26 check points
Long course 24/26 check points
Start any time between 5:30-6:30pm at SE corner of Ashley Pond park. [Corner of NM-502 / Trinity Drive and 20th Street, Los Alamos NM, beside the Manhattan Project National Historical Park visitor center.]
The event is free. Maps are provided. Bring a compass if you have one. You'll be fine without too.
Basic navigation instructions provided by New Mexico Orienteers. All skill levels are welcome.
Children 12 years of age or younger need to be accompanied by an adult.
If you have questions, please email me [Sanna Sevanto ] or call 505-227-9149. No registration required, but if you plan on coming with a big group, it would help me to know in advance, so that I can print enough maps.
Hope to see you on Thu.
